Face of the week

Pilates is an exercise program that coordinates mind and body to support each other on the path to overall fitness. It was developed in Germany in the late 1800's by Joseph H. Pilates, who was a frail and unhealthy child. Determined to overcome his physical weakness, he developed a specialized technique of muscle control and movement to increase circulation and cardiovascular strength and rid the body of toxins.

Pilates taught this technique, now known as "matwork," to fellow inmates in a work camp to help stave off the influenza epidemic of 1918. They were the only group at the camp to survive intact. While serving as a hospital orderly during World War I, Pilates attached bedsprings to the headboards of the non-ambulatory patients and began exercising them using springs as a support system. Doctors noticed that these patients improved more quickly than other, and thus Joseph Pilates began the development of his program.

Orit Caspi - Owner and Certified Instructor

After years of working as an economist , Orit became interested in Pilates as an addition to her vigorous workout routine. Pilates seemed to be the answer she was looking for when searching for the right mind-body exercise to add to her health and fitness regimen. She felt it was restorative, yet matched her on-the-go personality. She knew she wanted a career in Pilates after participating in Pilates classes. She liked the soothing exercises that had a strong impact on her. In essence, Orit gave up her career as an Economist to open her Pilates career.

Orit was trained at the Stott Pilates Academy in California. Her passion for Pilates will make this a lifelong area of study. To date, Orit is certified in Mat, and intending to get her certificate in Reformer, Cadillac and Tower.

Orit is looking forward to helping her clients strive and reach for new goals as she herself has done.
